Brimonidine tartrate is an alpha-2 selective adrenergic receptor agonist for ophthalmic use. Brimonidine tartrate is a white to off-white, pale yellow powder and is water soluble (34 mg/mL). In solution, brimonidine tartrate has a clear, greenish-yellow colour. Chemical name: 5-bromo-6-(2-imidazolidinylideneamino) quinoxaline L-tartrate Molecular weight: 442.24 as the tartrate salt Empirical formula: C11H10BrN5.C4H6O6
